Olivarez Italian Queens Bees

Italian queens are a foundational part of Olivarez Honey Bees’ breeding program. Breeder queens are selected from colonies that consistently demonstrate strong honey production, calm temperament, solid brood patterns, and the ability to overwinter successfully with healthy populations. Selection is based on long-term field performance rather than short-term metrics.

To strengthen colony health, OHB has incorporated proven hygienic lines through ongoing collaboration with the Tech Transfer Team led by entomologist Marla Spivak. Italian stock has been enhanced with Minnesota Hygienic and Varroa Sensitive Hygiene (VSH) traits to support improved tolerance to mites and common hive diseases.

All OHB queens are certified free of Africanized genetics and certified free of Small Hive Beetle.
